Together, Ryan and Elizabeth have 39 years in the Newton Public Schools as educators and have served the NTA in myriad roles: Professional Rights and Responsibilities, Building Representative, Community Relations, Legislative Action, Negotiations, Vice President, and Second Release Officer. With their combined experience in both secondary and elementary education, they understand deeply the most pressing issues facing educators today, including the blistering pace of change and the need to settle contracts before they expire.
Advocates
Ryan and Elizabeth have been strong advocates for NPS educators and students. Both have spoken publicly at School Committee, serve on the Negotiations Team, and regularly go to bat for their colleagues, advocating for buildings that don’t leak, rooms that are temperature controlled, and guaranteeing 225 minutes of preparation time for all elementary educators.

They are ready to listen to members’ priorities, advocate for members’ needs, and lead with an eye toward building coalitions and relationships that will improve the working and learning conditions of Newton educators and students.
